For a short sweet 12.1 minutes you get to join Brendan DeVries in their bedroom. The intimacy they have with their lyrics provides you with the sense that you’re not in the room with them, but sitting outside, leaning against the wall by the door frame, listening in. And one gains an understanding that this is what they intended. They carry the light and delicate parts of an ethereal touch throughout this self titled album, bringing normal terrestrial business (such as in “Peach Pit” and “Shower Song”) a little higher. Another good folk sharing their individual, natural feedback.

Pendant 12,1 brèves et charmantes minutes, vous avez le privilège d’être avec Brendan DeVries dans sa chambre. L’intimité qu’elli partage avec les paroles vous donne l’impression que nous n’êtes pas dans la pièce avec sol, mais assis contre la porte à l’extérieur de la chambre. Et vous réalisez que c’est ce qu’elli souhaitait. Elli donne à tout l’album éponyme une impression aérienne composée de parties légères et délicates, qui emporte les préoccupations terre-à-terre un peu plus haut (comme dans les morceaux “Peach Pit” et “Shower Song”). Un autre bon personne qui exprime ses propres opinions au naturel.

Like an incidental chamber between the screen door and the door door, Summering is a slice between real inside and real outside. With sounds catering to both a linger and an exit, it’s hard to trap their waif-like guitar licks and dense rhythms in a single instance of motion. The self-titled EP is a marked, anticipated entrance into an uncanny place: both familiar and new territory.

The vintage rock sounds of Halifax are alive and well in 2015 thanks to the sweet, sweet melodies of The Age. Like their municipal brethren of musical past, The Age don the well-worn, patched-up leather jacket of their retro influences to craft eight finely tuned rock gems that bounce and bob at all the right measures. Each half of the tape is bookended with an instrumental jam, where the group prove their charisma extends beyond catchy hooks into a melodic maelstrom of pure rock-n-roll energy.

En 2015, le son rock vintage vit et bat son plein à Halifax grâce aux belles et jolies mélodies de The Age. Au même titre que leurs compatriotes d’une époque musicale révolue, The Age affiche ouvertement ses influences rétro telle une veste de cuir usée et rapiécée sur ces huit pistes bien fignolées, huit joyaux de rock qui bondissent, cabriolent et battent toutes la bonne mesure. Chaque côté de la cassette se clôt par un jam instrumental, un mélodieux maelström d’énergie purement rock’n’roll prouvant que le charisme du groupe ne se limite pas à ses refrains accrocheurs.

Power-Buddies, c’est un peu comme avoir des cailloux entre les orteils, un burger dans la bouche ou le fait de détacher ses jambes collées sur le sofa : un choc rafraîchissant dans la moiteur de l’été albertain.
