The Binz’ How to Freak Out Responsibly About the Rise of the Robots, released by spirited one-man Vancouver punk label, Not Yer Buddy Records, is a seething, violent mass with something friendly at its core. The songs come from a familiar place without being too familiar, moving forward so quickly that there’s not much time to sit and zone-out to any given riff — there’s something even better coming and it’s starting to hit now. But rather than being complex, the album is tireless, with Gary Roberts alternating between singing and screaming, restraint and onslaught, hurtling us towards the end.

How to Freak Out Responsibly About the Rise of the Robots (ou : comment capoter responsablement face à une insurrection de robots) de The Binz, une production de la fougueuse maison de disque punk Vancouvéroise dirigée en solo, Not Yer Buddy Records, est une masse violente et colérique sur un fond amical. Les pistes viennent d’un endroit familier sans toutefois trop l’être, allant de l’avant si rapidement qu’on ne peut pas vraiment prendre le temps de décrocher et de se concentrer sur un riff quelconque, car quelque chose d’encore mieux se fait sentir. À défaut d’être complexe, l’album est plutôt inlassable, Gary Roberts alternant entre cri et chant, retenue et assaut, nous projetant vers la fin.
