Wind is an apt word for this paisley psychedelic pop trio originating in Ontario (now residing in Montreal). Canada’s industrial heartland is a strange place for music of this kind and much like Jarvis Street Revue, Thunder Bay’s out-of-freaking-nowhere garage-psych freak-fest, The Pop Winds defy Ontario’s cold, grey mien to deliver sweeping currents of breezy drum-machine pop. It’s the perfect fall record; a mellow travelogue contrasting the darkness of Canadian winters on the horizon. Understory was logically recorded at Lab synthèse, a hub for weird-pop explorations in Montreal.

“Vent” est un mot approprié pour ce trio pop psychédélique à motif cachemire originaire d’Ontario (vivant maintenant à Montréal). Le cœur industriel du Canada est un endroit étrange pour ce genre de musique et vraiment comme Jarvist Street Revue, la fête monstre psych de garage sortie de nulle part à Thunder Bay, les Pop Winds défient l’allure grise et froide de l’Ontario pour livrer de larges courants de batterie pop venteuse. C’est l’enregistrement d’automne parfait; c’est un mélodieux carnet de voyage qui contraste la noirceur des hivers canadiens à l’horizon. Understory fût logiquement enregistrée au Lab Synthèse, un carrefour pour les explorations de pop bizarre à Montréal.

Dev…..late night in this shithole Edmonton where we have to open a smart play to a bunch of dumb assholes…was I really born here…no wonder I’m such a wierd old cunt…. so I got a good chuckle out of the Ed photos of nowhereville, as we used to say, and I played some popwinds tunes to remind me that there is life blood over there and good god it cheered me up….hope your gigs are going good….the dadken
